First Steps In Nature
Located just beyond the city limits at 7654 Conservation Rd, Guelph, we are surrounded by an abundance of nature that amazes us daily. Our educators and families have witnessed the calming and grounding effect that time outdoors has on children. Recognizing each child’s unique needs and interests as well as their comfort in the outdoors, we have created an outdoor-focused program designed to help children who are drawn to nature thrive.
This program is led by qualified educators who have a profound connection to the outdoors; its is led with a sense of passion and true belief in the endless benefits of outdoor experiences for children.
Our outdoor preschool program continues to be rooted in the four foundations of learning: belonging, wellbeing, inclusion and expression. Each foundation is supported by nature offering a holistic, immersive learning environment.

Our outdoor programs are available to children ages 30 months to 6 years. We operate from 9:00am to 2:45pm Monday – Friday. We are open September to June, with the exception of all non-instructional school days (UGDSB elementary calendar based).
Our program offers a warm, home-made lunch each day. Our meals are prepared on site by our qualified cook. We cater to all dietary restrictions and needs and support a culturally diverse menu. Our menu can be found on our website firststepsguelph.ca
The daily fee for our program is $65. This allows us to operate at a lower child to staff ratio, providing high quality care with experienced outdoor educators where increased supervision and assistance may be needed. We strive to accommodate all schedules of care.
